Holistic Cycle Awareness: Rediscovering the Sacredness of the Female Cycle (and why it truly serves us)
Rediscovering the sacredness of our female cycle through holistic cycle awareness is a key that reaches far beyond our relationship with our own bodies.
But this is where it begins.
When I speak of sacredness here, I don’t mean putting something on a pedestal, locking it behind glass, and blindly worshipping it.
No. Sacredness means something is whole within itself—complete, pure, and sincere.
Something sacred carries an innate clarity, wisdom, and power that helps, inspires, uplifts, and guides us when we turn to it with openness and appreciation.
And so it is with our female cycle.
More and more women are feeling a deep longing for a way of life that reconnects them to themselves and to the natural world they live in.
The realization of how unnatural, unhealthy, and unfulfilling the superficial hustle culture is, grows louder over time.
What use are all our achievements, money, recognition, impressive degrees—if we are constantly stressed, exhausted, and at war with ourselves?
We can’t even enjoy what we create (and may even be creating things we don’t truly want).
But once we recognize that this way of life does not serve us, we no longer have to believe that it’s the only way.
It is simply not true that we have to live like this to create a successful, fulfilling life.
We are allowed to live in alignment with our feminine nature.
It can be easeful, flowing, and relaxed.
That does not mean doing nothing at all. No.
It means shifting our focus from external expectations to our inner world.
Turning toward ourselves—our feminine nature—with openness, attentiveness, love, and appreciation.
And in doing so, we begin to recognize the true power, beauty, and wisdom within our cycle, our nature, and our being—allowing it to become the guiding authority in our lives.
How does this work?
Every woman has her own unique story—her own relationship with her body, mind, and soul.
Each of us experiences our connection to ourselves and all our aspects in our own way.
There is no single “right” way to live in alignment with oneself.
But we all have a body, a mind, and a soul.
And we all have the ability to nurture and deepen our relationship with them.
By attentively observing ourselves, we can come to know and understand ourselves (and the world around us) in ever deeper ways.
This is essential.
To understand our rhythms and cycles, how all the different systems within us interact—both physiologically and psychologically.
Not just to grasp it intellectually, but to truly feel it within us.
Through this, we begin to understand what we need and when—and rather than judging it, we can honor it.
When we engage with our body-mind system in a curious, open, and appreciative way, we empower ourselves.
No one can deceive us anymore—not even we ourselves.
We are invited to remember what a magical, wise, and sacred place our body is.
To recognize the power of being a cyclical being.
We have an intelligent, innate rhythm within us—one that wants to collaborate with us, one that can guide us if we listen.
This rhythm tells us exactly what we need, when to act, and when to rest.
It is like a monthly timer, marking phases of activity and retreat.
The seasons of solar year and the lunar cycle are reflected in our female cycle.
These natural cycles provide helpful orientation for understanding and embracing our own rhythm.
The Four Phases of the Cycle
Menstruation / Winter / New Moon
Winter is a low-energy phase—our body signals us to slow down, rest, and turn inward.
It is a time of cleansing, renewal, and preparation for what is to come.
While the uterus releases what she no longer needs, a new follicle is already beginning to develop in secret.
Doesn’t this beautifully show how every ending carries the seed of a new beginning?
Follicular Phase / Spring / Waxing Moon
Just as new life blossoms in spring, we emerge from rest and cleansing with renewed energy.
We overflow with inspiration, ideas, and drive, enjoying social interactions and starting new projects.
Inside us, our developing follicle continues to grow.
Ovulation / Summer / Full Moon
In summer, the sun shines at its peak, the days are longest, and life is most vibrant.
We feel beautiful, strong, creative, and radiant—craving adventure, connection, and intimacy (in whatever form that may take).
Our follicle is mature and ready to unite and create new life.
This powerful creative energy within us can be consciously channeled to create a new reality of life—be it a human child, a project, a relationship.
Luteal Phase / Autumn / Waning Moon
Just as autumn draws life’s energies back into the earth, our energy also begins to turn inward.
We may feel moody, critical, easily irritated, and fatigued—seeking solitude rather than socializing.
It’s crucial to be gentle and kind to ourselves, giving ourselves exactly what we need.
Has the follicle been fertilized and implanted or not, either way, we are pregnant—pregnant with an idea, a desire, a child, a new version of ourselves.
This is the end of our cycle—a perfect time for inner work and reflection:
How have the past weeks been for me?
What has happened?
What am I grateful for?
What have I learned?
What do I want to release?
What do I want to welcome?
Living in Alignment with Our Cycle
Every month, we cycle between phases of extroversion and introversion.
The inner phases (Luteal Phase & Menstruation) invite us to turn inward, rest, and reflect — like the seasons of autumn and winter.
These phases are sacred times of letting go, cleansing, and renewal—preparing us for the next cycle.
The outer phases (Follicular Phase & Ovulation) invite us to go out into the world, take action, share, and create. The energy of spring and summer.
The clarity we gathered within now combines with renewed energy—allowing us to share our ideas, pursue projects, and work on our vision.
Isn’t it brilliantly designed by nature?
This flowing exchange between inner retreat and outward expansion—within our bodies and in the world around us.
Recognizing and honoring our cycle is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.
It enriches every aspect of our lives—from our relationship with ourselves and our health, to our loved ones, to our careers, our finances, our sense of security, and our trust in life itself.
And yes, integrating cycle awareness into our lives is a journey.
It takes time and space to observe, unlearn old patterns, cultivate new ones—so we must be gentle with ourselves.
Yet with every cycle we journey through, we are invited to learn, release, and grow wider and deeper.
lots of love to you,
